Hauf An Hauf

The hauf an hauf (half and a half) is a Scottish cultural institution. When ordered, it refers to a pint alongside a whisky. The first “hauf”—half, for our non-Scots speakers—is easy enough: it refers to a half-pint of beer. The second hauf refers to a dram.
